Jaslene, The Peoples Champ

I like it when It GIrls come and hang with the People. The people are the ones that made them, the people that support them, that love them and that want them to grow and prosper. Americas Next Top Model Jaslene is A Lady of the People. These pics, man -- Man, U cant tell me That I cant turn out a party. Heres the short of it. I had done my job for the night, and shot about 200 frames. I then made an quick detour to the bar and slid the bartender my likl drink ticket and in return, he slid me his #. Cute, but can a brotha get a vodka tonic? And while you at it, gimme back my drink ticket. Im swerving and getting bodied when i look up and see Vanity - 2007. I got back to work, whip out the Escalade, rims and all. and knocked out a few shots. My favorite part is when Jas got with the people.

In fact, I'd call her the peoples champ.

MEn Are From Mars - ATL Invasion

THis is just a temporary post. Dontae, I hope u LIke it :)

Whos Shoes are those? I'll tell you at the end of this post.

Whatup Crew?

Recently I've been doing my thing for the mags in NYC , tryin to work my way up -- er, i mean, make my way over to TRACE Magazine (my goal and really, if any of you guys can hook a brotha up, let me know) and along the way I get booked to shoot a party or two.

Well, over the Gay Pride, Uhm.. I mean, GEIGH Pride (Geigh guys are just a little more chic than regular old gays....) i got booked to shoot some parties for The promoters of Men Are From Mars and Bone-a-fide Party.

And man, those parties were AWESOME!

Seriously. Webster Hall. Ok yo.. To me, Webster Hall screams "Bridge and TUnnel Teeny Boppers and there Coke Addled Aunts/Uncles Partying the Night Away While Tryin Not to Melt Their Gel ANd Aqua-Net Supported Hairstyles " -- and their beaded necklaces... can't forget those, but man... was I impressed.

Atlanta came out hard core. And I loved it. The Skrippas Skripped. The boys were Boys and even some of the girls were boys (you know what I mean).

And speakin of Skrippas.....

I like to shoot them. Can you tell?

As the night went on, Special Entertainment.

ANd yeah, I met Bree From ANTM.. I was gonna tell her to tell her Moms and Pops I said "hi", but she was on a major trip wit the Captn and maybe Mr. Daniels so our convo stayed light and clubby.

U Gotta Love Blk People!

Even the ones that dont consider themselves to be Black. :)

WHatsup People? Ya boy Dex has been busy gettin my photo hustle on tryin to supplement the income I lost by leaving Corperate America to pursue my dreams and some shyt.... One gig in particular has me shooting nightlife in NYC.

This past weekend, I had a busy Schedule. I shot some barely legal beauties that kept me feeling like a salacious Scout Master on a campsite -- with no one lookin. THat was ALL Day (5am Call time/ 3 locations/ didnt get home till 3pm). THen I went to shoot this Boat ride.

Funny thing about the boat ride, it was all NYC Latinos. U know, them Blk peolpe that speak spanish. Dominicans, Cubans, and of course, RIcans.

Yeah....

and thats All I have to say about that *giving the ENTIRE African Diaspora, especially the spanish speaking portion - the eternal side eye*

FYI, Black is black, so love yourself! :)

Bar Hopping in NYC

10:30 PM... My phone rings. It's Jon-E inviting me to come hang out with him and Freamon. Sounds pretty normal, right?

Fvk that. It's NYC. Nothing normal happens here between the hours of 10pm and 5AM.

I hop on the train and eventually make it to where they were. Turns out, they were waiting on some other friends up from Florida who hadn't arrived yet. I suggested that we stop by Urge cause I kinda know the guy who owns it and he's pretty cool people (DexStarG doesn't give his $ to people who don't deserve it).

Man oh man, The crowd was sedate (as usual) but very friendly and all around good company. Check out some of the pics.

After about 2 drinks and a TONNE of friendly and wonderous conversations fro the patrons (and friendly go-go crew) @ Urge, We headed back to the first spot over on 1st Ave to meet up with Freamon & Jon.Es' friends.

Ok, I was told that they were like some rappers.... and that uhm, they was crunk. I was lookin at the crowd and they was lookin at me and I aint really see "RAP" in their eyes.

WRONG.

Ok, the name of the crew is YOMAJESTY4LIFE. They are kinda like 3 BRats or The Brat & Khia (with talent) mixed with a Femme version of Twister....... I cant describe them. All I can say is KRYPTONITE PUSSY IS MY NEW FAV SONG!!!!!!

The crowd knew them, wanted them, and MADE them perform. I aint never been to a party where the fans liked the artists music so much that they MADE them MF's perform under threat of violence. An Ive partied with The Blessed Lamb God a few times and she wasn't even gonna brush her lacefront in public without a a bucket of Popey's or SOMETHIN.

CHeck out YO MAJESTY4LIFE. BTW, I had to elbow a very nice white chick in her sternum for these pics. SHe didnt mind. She thought it was part of the show and offered to make me a sammich after it was over. :)

Iight. THEY WAS CRUNK. It was like a mosh pit but more aggressive and less violent. I loved every moment. 3 AM, time to head home, right?

Wrong! We live in NYC, BABY, the nights just starting...

SO we go to this place called [Name Redacted]. I know, you are like, "Why all the secrecy?" Cause its a hawt party and unfortunatly, hawtness like this isnt really endorsed by the post Juliani shitwads who spend their elder years getting back at every type of person that they wish they were but were scared to be in their youth.

Still confused?... uhm... Just get a taste of NYC below.

and by the end of the night, a brotha was beat. But yo, if you love what I do, let me know. Drop a comment. I am Human. I do thrive off praise.

I Luv Black People

I really do. Big surprise, huh? *grin*

Hey, have you ever ben so excited about something, that you write it down on all your calendars, save the date in all your electronic formats, tell all your friends about it, pick out an outfit and then when the day comes, it completely slips your mind?

Well that was me and the Dance Africa Festival
at the Brookly Acadamy of Music. Luckily for me my friends Lisa and Desa reminded me about it. In no time, I grabbed my Camera and hit them mean streets.

These pics are how I see my world. These pics are how I see YOU. (click on the pics to see them full sized)

Oh yeah, it was hotter than than a Tamale made in a Kmart Parking lot and i was sweating like an old negro slave so u had BEST appreciate my effort and willingness to lose all my cool to give you these, so drop a comment and let a brotha know what u think :)

FYI: a brotha be short on time so I rarely retouch my pics. Mostly just crop and tag them. I say that cause people always want to know how i get my pics to look the way they do. Im hot, and blessed with a a lil talent. All Praises be to God.

You gotta Love 40/40 & King

Ok, My Homegirl, Brande is being kind enough to allow me to use her PC to update my blog.

Say "Thank You" :)

Yo, So I went tothis party at 4040 This past Tuesday. The T3 Agency & King Magazinethrew a party for Datwon Thomas.

Here are some of the pics.

So who is this that has my Homegirl Tomica cracking up? I would give you a clue, but it would be kind of anticlimatic. Its Darrra! No, Not Dora...., But Darra!

Ok, Funny thing... I know this chick. & she's COOL.

This is Me: "Hey LikeDat."

Like Dat: "Dexter, Right?! I aint seen you in a long time. How u been?"

THis is Me: "eh.who.what?"

Like Dat: *sensing my confusion* "Remember we was hangin together with [name redacted cause we dont hang no more and this is my blog and they lucky i dont take they pics offa here] on 7th Ave South?"

This is Me:" Uhm.... " *Awkward silence* "Yeah, he was tellin me we hung out whith you when we was watchin you on VH1, but you know my memory is kind of foggy."*wink*

LikeDat: *Big grin* "Dexter, you stupid." *giggle*

Now this is the point when most bloggers would get shady and make alot of jokes at her expense designed to entertiain their readers. I'll Leave that to Ninja. :)

Darra, is cool . Oh yeah, Kwame was there, and i bonded with DWoods. Quit playin!

You gotta Love Pastry

Around 12 noon, Monday, I get an email from one of the publicists that I work with. The message said something about some party the next night that I should be covering. I'm like "Tuesday events = Industry party = wire services+ Magazines = $"

Already, the math is looking good.

Fast forward to: the night of.

I make it to the venue, and as usual, before I spot someone I need to talk to, someone who needs pics, spots me.

Publicist #1: "Dex! Over here!" He points me to a spot under the canopy covering the red carpet. And then he's gone. My kinda boss. :)

Now I can set up ad shoot these fools. Below are the pics I didn't sell.

Before we get to the Party itself, I have to give a special shout out to a great and visually inspired entertainer. Cognac Jack- Um I mean.. Remy Ma.

I likes this broad. I'm always caught off guard when I see see her perform. Not just because Ive never seen her name on a flier, or heard the crowd buzzin wit her name [Sidebar: Usually, after 3 or for acts, the MC announces something like "and now coming to the stage, Remy Ma. Yes, Surprise Bitches! Shes Conceited with a reason and she's gonna tell you allllllll about it!"], but because ole girl is ALWAYS the best act of the night. She's a performer.

But the one thing I like so much about the poet, is that she's exactly the kind of female rapper i can get into. Yeah, visually, she's a hurricane where most chicks strive to be a summers breeze, but dammit, she's a rapper, not a librarian. Besides, underneath all the pastel street gear, and braggadocios bravado is just a little black girl from the Brewser Projects of Detroit Michigan... wait.. thats Miss Ross.

I mean-- Underneath it all is just a little black girl form [insert random ghetto/projects here] of the Boggie Down Bronx, who smoked a lot of herb, hung out with the Latins, and took a pen to paper to chronicle the sights and sounds of her existance.

U Gotta Love Remy.

*Special note from Ninjagirrl*

Business first: Dex asked me to publish this blog for him because his brand new laptop developed the shakes after playing Amy Winehouse's cd. The laptop is now in rehab and is said to be on its way to recovery. Don't worry folks, Dex is still going to be photogging and blogging his arse off.

On to a little Ninja fuggery: I must say I am loving the Remy pics also. Dex's skills get better and better. And unlike Dex, I have never seen Remy Ma in concert, but I have no doubt she beasts the stage. She has a presence for real, I mean her bang alone weighs a ton! Remy would be a great Rick James in what I am sure will be a BET produced BlackBuster (lol) flick "Rick James:Cocaine is a Helluva drug". I don't know about you all, but I for one want to see her tie some chick up in the basement and force her to smoke drugs while singing Fire & Desire. I'll bet that Remy could get an Image Award for that performance. (hell I got one for my mean typing game) Anywhoo.....keep on coming back to the blog for updates and HAWT pics from Dex and perhaps he'll let me drop a word or two sometimes.

*wondering if I got a whorange colored Remy Bang on the Love Below would I be wrong?* YUP!

Peace,

Ninja

I got Z'wined

I was walkin down the street when I bumped into my homegirl Alisha. In true BK fashion, we greeted, updated, and encouraged each other without breaking a step and in the span of less than 10 seconds. But leave it to Alisha to ad a little spice to my life. She notified me of an upcoming gathering at our homegirl was having? Of course I said "yes" (It's Alisha. Resistance is futile) and committed myself to adding the event to my calendar as soon as I got the info/ text message.

True to form.... that same evening (I Heart promptness).. The email:

Hey everybody my homegirl is throwing a wine tasting in Brooklyn.
Lisa's gonna sing
I'm gonna show some artwork
Dj
Come and see...

Sounds fun so far....

Salut, Mon bel esprit:

Thank you all for supporting me as I delve deeper into the fabulous
world of wine. I'm on a mission to bring wine down to earth. First
stop, Brooklyn! I've joined forces with the crème de le crème of BK to
bring you a Tour de France Wine Tasting "To Music" – the new
installment of "3rd Sunday Communion" (woulda been last week but,
hell, you remember that rain). If you missed our last soiree in the
snow, you now have a chance to redeem your cool factor. The weather
should FINALLY be warm and the terraces plentiful. Put on your flyest
skins and hold on to your glasses because you're about to be Z'wined.

Cheers!
------------------------------
Wine, Music and Art...
What more could you need?

me? uhm... Boyz.. Fogg?

Just Kidding!... sorta....

IIght.. So it's a wine and cheese tasting. Already, my "inna-nigga" was revolting. He started yelling all kinds of shyt like "Wine? - M/F U don’t know shyt bout no wiiiine. Only m/f Wine you know is Bartles & James. They gon have some Yak up in dat bitch?.. "

Yeah.. I had to cut hi off before he got to the cheese....

Fast forward. I got to the spot, the music is good ( The DJ was real) and best of all, I got to see my Texas Crew.

The Highlights of my evening: Getting to see a different side to my Homegirl Zwann. Since the day I met Zwann, she has been a true Yellow Rose of Texas. Always smiling. Always upbeat. Always read to share some knowledge. During the wine tasting, she hosted, and shared her EXTENSIVE knowledge of wine. What I dug so much about it was, that as much as she was informing the crowd, I could tell that it was only the tip of the iceberg of her knowledge of both international and a wide variety of domestic wines.

BTW: Zwann is off the hook, not only was the party incredibly entertaining, but she kept it real by surprising the crew with some “Yak” (Cognac –but it was fancy – Not no Hen-Dogg) and skrawburries…. J

Quit PLAYIN. Enjoy the pics!
