Happy B-Day Andre J!

WHatup All!? Lets talk about Andre.

I "Heart" him.
U ain't really gotta ask why. Maybe its because Happiness, Joy, Love, and Excitement ooze from his every pore.

I dunno,
I could take this time to tell you all about how tight we are, and how thats my hommie from way back, and how many wonderful things he does for me (and the world) on a weekly basis... But thats what PAPER, TRACE, and the NY POSTS PAGE SIX is for

All I gotta say is: Andre is LOVE! LOVE U SOME ANDRE!

U gotta Love Spence & HIRO

Hey Everybody!

YO, this is ya boy, Dex lettin u know that I had a helluva weekend.

But again, I have alot of work to do, so I wont be able to give you the minute by minute of the what happened and when. SO instead, I've enlisted the help of my Hommie (I mean, we go waaaaay back-- dont u see that capital "h"?) John, to hit you with the experience from his perspective.

Soooooooo: Take it away JOHN!

*applause- Applause*

Thanks Dex! I appreciate the love. So... let's get it pumping... Let me introduce myself to all of the people. My name is J. Anthony Trimble (commit that name to memory... you'll be seeing it again -- confident little bugger aren't I? SMILE). I could be considered a storyteller -- a conveyer of events in words and sounds. The one who lives to tell the tale. The person who is somehow inherently tasked with passing the beats, matter if it's voluntary, done in shade or for the greater good. I endeavor to tell the stories in a very authentic way. Stories about love, sex, dating, fashion, spirituality... all with a certain je nais sa qua. My hope is that I can add some quirkiness to Dex's photos and do them justice with my words. And now, without further ado, WELCOME TO THE MASH UP -- a Dex Star G Photos and J. Anthony Trimble collabo!

So Dex calls me up and says that he was going to his friend's house, Spencer, for dinner. He asks me if I wanted to tag along. I said sure. I get the call that he's there and I make my way. I get there and the party is already in full swing. Cocktails, food, lively conversation, board games, herbal libation... yes this was a cute little gathering. A few minutes into it Dex tells me that we are leaving in 15 minutes because we have to go to the city. WE? Okay, great! We head to the city and go to Lotus. Before we entered the club, we met up with Dex's friend Evan (such a freakin cutie)OMG! Lotus was so cute. As we entered the club, they were playing my new favorite song "She ain't got no money in bank, uh..." So that set the mood in motion for the rest of the evening. We peruse around the club and Dex's gets some fantastic shots of people in the club. The one shot that was the kee of life was the one of this black guy and his two girlfriends. When he saw Dex taking pictures, the child lost it. Dex looked like he really wasn't interested in taking money's picture but decided to anyway. The picture came out great but the boy's grin could be described as nothing less than big face. The deejay downstairs was playing the remix of Mary J's classic Real Love (look up in the sky/it's a bird/it's a plane/nope it's Mary J/ain't a damn thing changed). Evan and I were standing on the side getting our grrove on while Dex did his thing. We ended up leaving Lotus and heading for HIRO. Dex takes some shots of us as we are walking to HIRO.

*back to Dex*
And then HiRO was HIRO. It was awesome. Just check out the pics.

Look what I can do

Sup People?

It's ya boi, The People's Photographer, Dex here. FOr the past few months, I've been collaborating with one of my favorite NYC clubs, Lotus. Lotus was my first ""classy joint" when I got to NYC. It gave me everything I needed in club and it still does to this very day.

Man, If you dont know Lotus, then u might just be missing out.

Every Tuesday, we (I say "we" cause I had to fill out a 1099 for them h*es) we have a Burlesque show and some other shyt. THe Burlesque is Hot. The other shyt? Well, I got to chill with Debbie Harry (l;ook for those pics soon) and just recently, the club was filled with half nekkid A|X Underwear models...... Sweet.

Here's a cute lil throwback to my first night workin at Lotus (was it a month or 2 or a year or so? -- my how time flies in Manhattan) Featuring my HOMEBOI and MUSE Andre J.

U Gotta Love Imani

Imani. What can I say?

In the Nguzo Saba, Imani is described as This is the 7th, and final, day of Kwanzaa. THE day we celebrate IMANI (Faith). It is the day we renew our BELIEF in God, our people, our teachers and our leaders, and the virtue and victory of our struggle. IMANI!

And if you've ever been around her for more than a minute, you can see that the name does fit the spirit and the person.

Imani is my neighbor and my friend. We met a few years ago at a BBQ in Prospect Park. At the time, I was just snapping pics for no reason. I was introduced to Imani and my world opened up... for like 5 minutes. *grin* We got to playing photoshoot in the park - after dark ..... Uhm... u had to be there. :)

Which brings us to Sundays at HIRO. Its one of my favorite spots, so I took two of my favorite people - Evan and Imani - to cut a rug and work on our liver damage.

Below are just a few of the pics. Not to mention that we ran into Andre J (I HEART Andre J) and had a BLAST of a BLAST of a GOOD TIME. It was like Christmas and the Fourth of July all wrapped up into one. :)

Im tired of typing. Enjoy the show, :)

Jaslene, The Peoples Champ

I like it when It GIrls come and hang with the People. The people are the ones that made them, the people that support them, that love them and that want them to grow and prosper. Americas Next Top Model Jaslene is A Lady of the People. These pics, man -- Man, U cant tell me That I cant turn out a party. Heres the short of it. I had done my job for the night, and shot about 200 frames. I then made an quick detour to the bar and slid the bartender my likl drink ticket and in return, he slid me his #. Cute, but can a brotha get a vodka tonic? And while you at it, gimme back my drink ticket. Im swerving and getting bodied when i look up and see Vanity - 2007. I got back to work, whip out the Escalade, rims and all. and knocked out a few shots. My favorite part is when Jas got with the people.

In fact, I'd call her the peoples champ.

MEn Are From Mars - ATL Invasion

THis is just a temporary post. Dontae, I hope u LIke it :)

Whos Shoes are those? I'll tell you at the end of this post.

Whatup Crew?

Recently I've been doing my thing for the mags in NYC , tryin to work my way up -- er, i mean, make my way over to TRACE Magazine (my goal and really, if any of you guys can hook a brotha up, let me know) and along the way I get booked to shoot a party or two.

Well, over the Gay Pride, Uhm.. I mean, GEIGH Pride (Geigh guys are just a little more chic than regular old gays....) i got booked to shoot some parties for The promoters of Men Are From Mars and Bone-a-fide Party.

And man, those parties were AWESOME!

Seriously. Webster Hall. Ok yo.. To me, Webster Hall screams "Bridge and TUnnel Teeny Boppers and there Coke Addled Aunts/Uncles Partying the Night Away While Tryin Not to Melt Their Gel ANd Aqua-Net Supported Hairstyles " -- and their beaded necklaces... can't forget those, but man... was I impressed.

Atlanta came out hard core. And I loved it. The Skrippas Skripped. The boys were Boys and even some of the girls were boys (you know what I mean).

And speakin of Skrippas.....

I like to shoot them. Can you tell?

As the night went on, Special Entertainment.

ANd yeah, I met Bree From ANTM.. I was gonna tell her to tell her Moms and Pops I said "hi", but she was on a major trip wit the Captn and maybe Mr. Daniels so our convo stayed light and clubby.

U Gotta Love Blk People!

Even the ones that dont consider themselves to be Black. :)

WHatsup People? Ya boy Dex has been busy gettin my photo hustle on tryin to supplement the income I lost by leaving Corperate America to pursue my dreams and some shyt.... One gig in particular has me shooting nightlife in NYC.

This past weekend, I had a busy Schedule. I shot some barely legal beauties that kept me feeling like a salacious Scout Master on a campsite -- with no one lookin. THat was ALL Day (5am Call time/ 3 locations/ didnt get home till 3pm). THen I went to shoot this Boat ride.

Funny thing about the boat ride, it was all NYC Latinos. U know, them Blk peolpe that speak spanish. Dominicans, Cubans, and of course, RIcans.

Yeah....

and thats All I have to say about that *giving the ENTIRE African Diaspora, especially the spanish speaking portion - the eternal side eye*

FYI, Black is black, so love yourself! :)

Bar Hopping in NYC

10:30 PM... My phone rings. It's Jon-E inviting me to come hang out with him and Freamon. Sounds pretty normal, right?

Fvk that. It's NYC. Nothing normal happens here between the hours of 10pm and 5AM.

I hop on the train and eventually make it to where they were. Turns out, they were waiting on some other friends up from Florida who hadn't arrived yet. I suggested that we stop by Urge cause I kinda know the guy who owns it and he's pretty cool people (DexStarG doesn't give his $ to people who don't deserve it).

Man oh man, The crowd was sedate (as usual) but very friendly and all around good company. Check out some of the pics.

After about 2 drinks and a TONNE of friendly and wonderous conversations fro the patrons (and friendly go-go crew) @ Urge, We headed back to the first spot over on 1st Ave to meet up with Freamon & Jon.Es' friends.

Ok, I was told that they were like some rappers.... and that uhm, they was crunk. I was lookin at the crowd and they was lookin at me and I aint really see "RAP" in their eyes.

WRONG.

Ok, the name of the crew is YOMAJESTY4LIFE. They are kinda like 3 BRats or The Brat & Khia (with talent) mixed with a Femme version of Twister....... I cant describe them. All I can say is KRYPTONITE PUSSY IS MY NEW FAV SONG!!!!!!

The crowd knew them, wanted them, and MADE them perform. I aint never been to a party where the fans liked the artists music so much that they MADE them MF's perform under threat of violence. An Ive partied with The Blessed Lamb God a few times and she wasn't even gonna brush her lacefront in public without a a bucket of Popey's or SOMETHIN.

CHeck out YO MAJESTY4LIFE. BTW, I had to elbow a very nice white chick in her sternum for these pics. SHe didnt mind. She thought it was part of the show and offered to make me a sammich after it was over. :)

Iight. THEY WAS CRUNK. It was like a mosh pit but more aggressive and less violent. I loved every moment. 3 AM, time to head home, right?

Wrong! We live in NYC, BABY, the nights just starting...

SO we go to this place called [Name Redacted]. I know, you are like, "Why all the secrecy?" Cause its a hawt party and unfortunatly, hawtness like this isnt really endorsed by the post Juliani shitwads who spend their elder years getting back at every type of person that they wish they were but were scared to be in their youth.

Still confused?... uhm... Just get a taste of NYC below.

and by the end of the night, a brotha was beat. But yo, if you love what I do, let me know. Drop a comment. I am Human. I do thrive off praise.

I Luv Black People

I really do. Big surprise, huh? *grin*

Hey, have you ever ben so excited about something, that you write it down on all your calendars, save the date in all your electronic formats, tell all your friends about it, pick out an outfit and then when the day comes, it completely slips your mind?

Well that was me and the Dance Africa Festival
at the Brookly Acadamy of Music. Luckily for me my friends Lisa and Desa reminded me about it. In no time, I grabbed my Camera and hit them mean streets.

These pics are how I see my world. These pics are how I see YOU. (click on the pics to see them full sized)

Oh yeah, it was hotter than than a Tamale made in a Kmart Parking lot and i was sweating like an old negro slave so u had BEST appreciate my effort and willingness to lose all my cool to give you these, so drop a comment and let a brotha know what u think :)

FYI: a brotha be short on time so I rarely retouch my pics. Mostly just crop and tag them. I say that cause people always want to know how i get my pics to look the way they do. Im hot, and blessed with a a lil talent. All Praises be to God.
