Last week, the party continued on at Plush NYC. It was my very first time at that venue. I ihad heard alot of things about it. Good things. Nothing I had heard had prepared me for the fun & sweat that greeted me when I came through the doors.
Rain sleet or snow? None can stop a HotBoyz party.
It was hawt, ya'll. Marco Hall is not only an incredibly talented designer, but 1 hell of a dancer, and a really cool guy. Usually I see his clothing while looking at the crowd below as I ride the disco ball. All the "it" girls and boys-who-like-girls-clothing posture, dance, and ooze an air of fabulocity in his clothes. Wildly patterned chiffon creations adorn them, and they love him for it.
I luv me some Marco because he is a bugg-out and I consider him a friend.
Amanda Lepore is my homegirl. You know, like Jesus. I mean, she doesnt turn water into wine, or feed the masses on fish and bread, but she's totally that chick that'll wake the dead and never have I ever heard or seen her cast the first stone.
She's really cool.
See how Awesome Amanda is in the slide show below. Also included in this slide show are Andre J and Muthafvkin Jonte' ! All pics were taken at the Marco Hall Spring 2008 Fashion Show... More from that later.
Quit Playin! Muthafvkin Jonte was in at Shelter?!You mean, Beyonce's Homeboi/ Choreographer/ Freakum Dress Fit Model?
Hold up, "Snap for the Kids" Jonte? THE Jonte?Every Friday, Bleu Magazine and the Hot Boyz throw the hottest party in NYC for The FAM ( you know what I mean by "The Fam" - Dex Star G). I mean, if Jonte' took time out from hangin with the Queen, to get his rythmic socializing on with us, the you KNOW its when - what - how & Where you need to be.
Hey you guys! U already know how I feel about Andre. He's a big ball of sunshine and Christmas rolled into one. He is currently featured on the cover of French Vogue (Paris, not Homme) and has the distinction of being only the SECOND black male to grace their cover. The first being Diddy. But as much as we love Diddy's hustle, we admire Andre's drive even more.
Andre J has been taking the fashion world by storm. His recent French Vogue cover and fabulous lifestyle has everyone talking. A few nights ago, we celebrated his continued success (with out the least bit of jealousy) at Runway. Michael Musto (Village Voice), Malcolm Harris (Mal Sirrah), DJ Cassidy, Codie Rovioli, Oneal McNight, and De La Vega were just a few of the celebrated hosts and guests.
A few weeks back I went for a walk with my peoples to visit some friends of theirs. Of course nothing is simple in NYC. When we walk, its through a neon or concrete jungle. When we visit, its usually in our friends 200+ year old building or their high rise facilility - which could propbably hold the combined populations of My family towns in south Texas ( Big shout out to Cuero, Refugio, and Sweeny - Holla!).So I present to you a few pics of us visiting .Enjoy!
Oh, and drop a bruh a comment or two to let me know you stopped by :)
Nathan has been my homeboy for awhile now. I keep forgetting to invite him to brunch or dinner or the movies cause I always bump into him all the freakin time. It's like we're co-workers or something. :)Nathan Scott is amazing. He has his own blog and I could go on and on and on about how he is the most charismatic interviewer, or how his energy is always a welcome boost, or how perfectly salacious all his inkworthy one liners are...... but I have pictures to edit, and they arent gonna distribute themselves :) Blow are some shots of Nathan at work. I know its not video (comming soon) But u gotta love how THe Peoples Photographer tells a story. Holla :)
Well, first I went to a few loft parties. Then I hit a few Clubs.
I wish I could show u more, but my editor (oh yeah, did I mention that I have a book comming out?) says that I should hold back and hit you with the HARD stuff when u can properly admire it.
I "Heart" him.U ain't really gotta ask why. Maybe its because Happiness, Joy, Love, and Excitement ooze from his every pore.
I dunno, I could take this time to tell you all about how tight we are, and how thats my hommie from way back, and how many wonderful things he does for me (and the world) on a weekly basis... But thats what PAPER, TRACE, and the NY POSTS PAGE SIX is for
All I gotta say is: Andre is LOVE! LOVE U SOME ANDRE!
YO, this is ya boy, Dex lettin u know that I had a helluva weekend.
But again, I have alot of work to do, so I wont be able to give you the minute by minute of the what happened and when. SO instead, I've enlisted the help of my Hommie (I mean, we go waaaaay back-- dont u see that capital "h"?) John, to hit you with the experience from his perspective.
Soooooooo: Take it away JOHN!
*applause- Applause*
Thanks Dex! I appreciate the love. So... let's get it pumping... Let me introduce myself to all of the people. My name is J. Anthony Trimble (commit that name to memory... you'll be seeing it again -- confident little bugger aren't I? SMILE). I could be considered a storyteller -- a conveyer of events in words and sounds. The one who lives to tell the tale. The person who is somehow inherently tasked with passing the beats, matter if it's voluntary, done in shade or for the greater good. I endeavor to tell the stories in a very authentic way. Stories about love, sex, dating, fashion, spirituality... all with a certain je nais sa qua. My hope is that I can add some quirkiness to Dex's photos and do them justice with my words. And now, without further ado, WELCOME TO THE MASH UP -- a Dex Star G Photos and J. Anthony Trimble collabo!
So Dex calls me up and says that he was going to his friend's house, Spencer, for dinner. He asks me if I wanted to tag along. I said sure. I get the call that he's there and I make my way. I get there and the party is already in full swing. Cocktails, food, lively conversation, board games, herbal libation... yes this was a cute little gathering. A few minutes into it Dex tells me that we are leaving in 15 minutes because we have to go to the city. WE? Okay, great! We head to the city and go to Lotus. Before we entered the club, we met up with Dex's friend Evan (such a freakin cutie)OMG! Lotus was so cute. As we entered the club, they were playing my new favorite song "She ain't got no money in bank, uh..." So that set the mood in motion for the rest of the evening. We peruse around the club and Dex's gets some fantastic shots of people in the club. The one shot that was the kee of life was the one of this black guy and his two girlfriends. When he saw Dex taking pictures, the child lost it. Dex looked like he really wasn't interested in taking money's picture but decided to anyway. The picture came out great but the boy's grin could be described as nothing less than big face. The deejay downstairs was playing the remix of Mary J's classic Real Love (look up in the sky/it's a bird/it's a plane/nope it's Mary J/ain't a damn thing changed). Evan and I were standing on the side getting our grrove on while Dex did his thing. We ended up leaving Lotus and heading for HIRO. Dex takes some shots of us as we are walking to HIRO.
*back to Dex* And then HiRO was HIRO. It was awesome. Just check out the pics.
It's ya boi, The People's Photographer, Dex here. FOr the past few months, I've been collaborating with one of my favorite NYC clubs, Lotus. Lotus was my first ""classy joint" when I got to NYC. It gave me everything I needed in club and it still does to this very day.
Man, If you dont know Lotus, then u might just be missing out.
Every Tuesday, we (I say "we" cause I had to fill out a 1099 for them h*es) we have a Burlesque show and some other shyt. THe Burlesque is Hot. The other shyt? Well, I got to chill with Debbie Harry (l;ook for those pics soon) and just recently, the club was filled with half nekkid A|X Underwear models...... Sweet.
Here's a cute lil throwback to my first night workin at Lotus (was it a month or 2 or a year or so? -- my how time flies in Manhattan) Featuring my HOMEBOI and MUSE Andre J.
In the Nguzo Saba, Imani is described as This is the 7th, and final, day of Kwanzaa. THE day we celebrate IMANI (Faith). It is the day we renew our BELIEF in God, our people, our teachers and our leaders, and the virtue and victory of our struggle. IMANI!
And if you've ever been around her for more than a minute, you can see that the name does fit the spirit and the person.
Imani is my neighbor and my friend. We met a few years ago at a BBQ in Prospect Park. At the time, I was just snapping pics for no reason. I was introduced to Imani and my world opened up... for like 5 minutes. *grin* We got to playing photoshoot in the park - after dark ..... Uhm... u had to be there. :)
Which brings us to Sundays at HIRO. Its one of my favorite spots, so I took two of my favorite people - Evan and Imani - to cut a rug and work on our liver damage.
Below are just a few of the pics. Not to mention that we ran into Andre J (I HEART Andre J) and had a BLAST of a BLAST of a GOOD TIME. It was like Christmas and the Fourth of July all wrapped up into one. :)
Im a favorite son of Texas with plans for Brooklyn. I am The Peoples Photographer. I champion their beauty with my eye and soul. oh yeah - I took every last pic on this blog. If I'm in it, the time was used. Enjoy!
